Conventional, mechanically driven equipment (such as the vertical shaft on the main drive of a press) has emerged as the most flexible method of automating material supply to the press, and handling transport of parts between the separate stages of a forming plant. Mechanized material movement can be implemented by a self-contained, electrically driven machine unit; by an integral component in a new press plant; or - a popular solution - by a retrofitted unit used to modernize an existing press or press line.

Intelligent mechanization solutions replace expensive mechanical designs, increase the flexibility of production, and frequently also improve total plant productivity.
