The SIMATIC PCS 7 Industry Library (IL) V8.0 expands the concentrated standard functionality of the SIMATIC PCS 7 V8.0 process control system in the SIMATIC PCS 7 Advanced Process Library (APL) to include technological blocks and faceplates for industry-specific applications. It also supports operator control and monitoring via Touch Panels as well as the integration of SIMATIC S7 package units into SIMATIC PCS 7 applications.

At the heart of the SIMATIC PCS 7 Industry Library are several tried-and-tested industry libraries (from fields such as water/wastewater and building automation), whose blocks now have a modern, APL-style design.

Together with the APL, the SIMATIC PCS 7 Industry Library enables harmonized overall solutions with a uniform look and feel for specific control system tasks in many different industries, e.g.: 

  • Chemical industry
  • Pharmaceutical industry
  • Water and wastewater
  • Glass and solar industry
  • Oil and gas
  • Food and beverage industry
  • Minerals and mining

It helps accelerate the engineering process, reduce the time-to-market, and simplify process control.

SIMATIC PCS 7 Industry Library (IL)

The SIMATIC PCS 7 Industry Library V8.0 functionality is distributed across two sublibraries which can be installed separately:

  • Industry Library for PCS 7
  • Industry Library for S7

The product structure, however, is geared toward the operational environment in the SIMATIC PCS 7 process control system. As a result, the SIMATIC PCS 7 Industry Library V8.0 is available in the form of an engineering component and a runtime component:

  • SIMATIC PCS 7 Industry Library Engineering V8.0: Engineering software with engineering license for one engineering station
  • SIMATIC PCS 7 Industry Library Runtime V8.0: Runtime license for one automation system (SIMATIC PCS 7 automation systems of all designs and S7-300 controllers)

The SIMATIC PCS 7 Industry Library Engineering V8.0 product component enables you to carry out configuration work on a SIMATIC PCS 7 Engineering Station with both sublibraries.

The SIMATIC PCS 7 Industry Library Runtime V8.0 product component also allows you to execute blocks from both sublibraries on one automation system.

Additionally, please note that when you use SIMATIC PCS 7 Industry Library V8.0 function blocks in SIMATIC PCS 7 automation systems, SIMATIC PCS 7 AS Runtime POs are also booked.

  • Analog monitoring with additional binary limit value monitoring
  • Equipment monitoring for up to 16 units
  • Time switch for up to 8 time intervals
  • Polyline with faceplate
  • Setpoint encoder with a variable number of setpoints

  • Simulation blocks
  • Jump distributor for up to 5 jump destinations

Industry Library for S7

Sublibrary for the configuration and integration of package units that are based on S7-300 controllers with:

  • Panel interface blocks for IL functions
  • Analog monitoring of 8 freely selectable limit values
  • Analog monitoring with additional binary limit value monitoring
  • Equipment monitoring for up to 8 units
  • Analog measured value monitoring
  • Digital measured value monitoring
  • 3-point actuator (flaps, motors, valves, etc.)
  • Operator control blocks
  • Valve control
  • Motor control (standard motor, with 2 directions of rotation, with variable speed)
  • Functions for building automation
S7-300 package units

The blocks and faceplates of the Industry Library for S7 sublibrary integrate package units and distributed systems into a SIMATIC PCS 7 project based on a uniform concept. The function blocks are configured in CFC.

Operator control and monitoring for each panel

Operator control and monitoring on one panel can be configured with the panel interface blocks of the Industry Library for PCS 7 and Industry Library for S7 sublibraries. Configuration takes place in the CFC with just one connection to the technological block (e.g. the motor). Taking operating rights and hierarchical operating concepts (multi-control room operation) into consideration, the technological function can then be operated both from an operator station and from a Touch Panel.
