Cutting table

The "cutting table" is an example. It uses a sophisticated cutting controller to divide, cut and separate a large plate of glass into individual pieces to millimeter accuracy. Afterwards, the individual pieces are ground and stored for further transport.

System solutions

These machines are equipped with the compact state-of-the-art SINUMERIK 840D CNC and CAD package specially tailored to the needs of this application. Programs such as SCUT (for cut optimization) and Shaping & Nesting (for pattern generation) are integrated on the operator PC of the SINUMERIK 840D. The standard operation configuration can be extended with the EASY VIEW program, which allows customization.

The PLC unit of the SINUMERIK controller allows machine units or machine-specific releases to be controlled on one system. Both the cutting pressure and the supply of cutting lubricant can be optimized with the aid of the velocity-dependent analog output. This saves a large amount of space on the plant and simplifies configuring and spare parts servicing. This example demonstrates how an optimum application can be produced for the equipment of a cutting table in cooperation with partners in the industry (e.g. Albat & Wirsam company).

SINUMERIK 810D/840D

In order to develop a productive and economical solution for this application, certain outstanding features are required of the CNC. These include:

• "Look Ahead",
• "Feedforward control",
• "Jerk limitation" and
• "Tangential control" for the cutting wheel.

The "Frame" function allows the simple correction of any glass plate position.
