ДизайнThe task of the voltage regulator for the transformer is to supply the electrical consumers with constant voltage in the event of system fluctuations. The advantage of a voltage regulator with a variable transformer is the proportional change of the sine wave i.e. the special characteristic of the voltage regulator is that the rms, average, and peak values are kept proportionally constant. For example, consumers whose load is determined by the thermal limit values require a good rms value. High-capacitance loads for DC devices respond to the average value. Low-capacitance loads, on the other hand, are influenced by the peak value. However, the described factors can only be achieved for sinusoidal AC voltages which can only be implemented with a variable transformer. They stabilize the connected input voltage U1 irrespective of frequency and power factor to the rated factor of the output voltage U2N within the set control accuracy (± 1 % of U2N). The control time is 1.5 s to 2.5 s from the top or bottom limit. The wave shape of the input voltage is not changed. The output voltage U2 is compared in the electronic step controller with a set reference voltage. In the event of a deviation in voltage greater than the set response value, the electronic step controller compensates the deviation with an accuracy of ± 1 % using a servo motor and adjustable moving contact on the variable-ratio transformer. Short-circuit and overload protectionTransformer voltage regulators must be protected with gL/gG fuses on the primary side against damage caused by short-circuits. The fuse rated current must be determined according to the highest primary current (present with the lowest input voltage). Overload and short-circuit protective devices according to the rated load current must be provided on the output side.
